The book's cover features the famous labyrinth of Chartres Cathedral in France. I am grateful to have walked this sacred path, ancient symbol of the spiritual journey, a few years ago. The labyrinth is one of the book's two main motifs, along with the church's liturgical year. In the book I tell the story of my own year of purification while following the path of the purified heart and share the wisdom of spiritual guides of the past and present who have gone before us to light the way.

About me:
I'm a Presbyterian minister and Benedictine oblate who teaches and writes about Christian spiritual formation and transformation. Following careers in higher education and financial planning, I entered seminary and later served as a pastor of congregations and an administrator of a church governing body. I hold a seminary Certificate in Spiritual Formation and am trained as a spiritual director. I live in Chapel Hill, NC, where I lead the ecumenical Friends of Christ School for Christian Spirituality, and offer classes, workshops, and retreats here and elsewhere.
